Prove It: Progressing in Godliness
In 1 Timothy 4:11-16, the Apostle Paul closes chapter 4 by explaining to Timothy that godly ministry is patterned by godly character — via five areas in particular. Paul also instructs his protege to wholeheartedly progress as a believer & minister of the Gospel by reading, teaching, and exhorting God’s Word. If we are to progress in OUR Christian walk (and truly live out our faith), we must prove it by persistently watching ourselves and our doctrine closely.
Four Characteristics of Church Community
In Ephesians 6:21-24 Paul brings his letter to the Ephesians to a close. In the way he closes, Paul illustrates how we should live in community as the Church. We should seek to be transparent with one another, encourage one another, and care for one another’s spiritual health. We are to live in this type of community with each other because of God’s love for us, and our love for him.
Wake Up – Living in God’s Light
If you’ve been following along with us in Ephesians, the Apostle Paul has been writing about orthodoxy (right thinking) for some time. But as we open chapter 5, the orthopraxy (right living) continues as Paul emphasizes the importance of living a life that reflects God’s character and rejecting dark behaviors. He issues the church at Ephesus – and churches today – a wake-up call. Believers are called to walk in love, and live in God’s Light. Walk in love Avoid the darkness Keep living in the Light Examine what pleases God .
