A Sermon by Francis Grimke: Some Reflections Growing Out of the Recent Epidemic of Influenza that Afflicted Our City
Francis Grimke was a pastor in Washington D.C. from 1878-1928, ministering most prominently at the 15th Street Presbyterian Church. In 1918, the Spanish flu swept through cities in the United States. Thousands died. Public gatherings were closed for weeks. This is a sermon that Grimke preached when he returned to his pulpit when the disease had run its course. His reflections are worthy of our consideration during this time when disease is sweeping through our own cities. Pastor Lonnie reads…
Blessed Assurance, Where Are You?
What do I do when my heart condemns me? When I’m struggling to see fruit? When I’m starting to doubt that I belong to the Lord?
Jesus is the Anti-Cain
Cain hated his righteous brother and killed him. Jesus loved the unrighteous and gave His life for them. Jesus is the Anti-Cain.
Christians Can Sin (Right?)
Can Christians still sin? Why didn’t God just get rid of all desire to sin and make us perfect when He saved us?
God’s Children Will Look Like Him
The children of God will bear a resemblance to their Father, and His Son Jesus Christ.
Antichrists & the Anointed
The spirit of antichrist is in the world, but Christian, the Spirit of Christ is in you.
Do Not Love the World
Why are we commanded not to love the world when God is said to do so?
